Deputy Director General
Werner Burkart has been the head of the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications since 2000. Prior to joining the Agency, he held senior positions in the fields of radiation hygiene, radiation biology, radioecology and radiation protection. He has worked at the Swiss National Science Foundation, the Swiss Institute for Reactor Research and at the Paul Scherrer Institute.
He is currently also Professor for Radiation Biology at the Faculty of Medicine, Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. Full Biography.
