Isotope Hydrology Laboratory
- Announcement of the availablility of the international measurement standards VSMOW2 and SLAP2
The new international measurement standards VSMOW2 and SLAP2 are available with immediate effect and can be ordered via email to STABISO.REFMAT@IAEA.ORG or through the internet on the IAEA reference materials homepage http://www.iaea.org/programmes/aqcs/
Please find details on the two materials on the information sheet available here for download. Vienna, 22 June 2007 - TRIC2004 tritium reference values
(updated 2007-01-08)
In the table below the tritium reference values are provided for the six samples of the TRIC2004 exercise with their associated uncertainties (at 1-sigma level, non-symmetric!). Please be aware that these are values calculated from gravimetric dilutions and that the upper limits include the component of a potential (improbable) small residual tritium offset of the used tritium-free water. The values are given with calculation precision and do not provide an estimate of measurement accuracy!
The draft report will soon be sent to participating laboratories.

International Symposium on Quality Assurance for Analytical Methods in
Isotope Hydrology 25-27 August 2004, IAEA, Vienna, Austria
The symposium was featuring reviews on the state of the art in quality
assurance related to analytical techniques in isotope hydrology. Papers
were invited on all aspects of analytical techniques and laboratory
quality assurance systems, ensuring in the day to day routine in isotope
hydrology laboratories aiming at producing high quality data. Techniques
considered are stable isotopes, radioactive isotopes at environmental
level, as well as chemical and isotopic tracers. Download

Inter-laboratory Comparison
This IC exercise was the third one organized for stable isotope composition of water samples. Associated is a part on soil moisture samples.

Uncertainty Assessment for 3H and 14C online:
These two publications will be part of an IAEA TECDOC on uncertainty assessment for nuclear measurements. In addition an Excel-Spreadsheet is provided for easy reference and uncertainty calculation.
- New recommended half-life for tritium (3H): 4500 ± 8 days
