WICO2002 Water Isotope Inter-laboratory Comparison
This exercise was started in 2002 Four water samples with carefully calibrated isotopic composition were sent out to 95 laboratories. 82 laboratories from 31 countries reported data back to the IAEA.
In addition, two soil samples (equilibrated with water of known isotopic composition) were sent to 24 laboratories, from which 14 laboratories reported back data.
For the four samples of the water exercise, the reference values are given below as calibrated at the IAEA with three independent mass spectrometers and sample preparation systems:
Sample code
δ2HVSMOW [‰] ± uncert; (no.)
OH-5
-0.199±0.034 (n=82)
-1.73±0.59 (n=81)
OH-6
-4.159±0.028 (n=79)
-38.65±0.42 (n=80)
OH-7
-10.646±0.032 (n=85)
-77.63±0.58 (n=49)
OH-8
-16.204±0.036 (n=88)
-121.52±0.45 (n=52)

Boron stable isotope inter-laboratory comparison exercise
This exercise was started in spring 2000, organized by the University of Pisa in cooperation with the IAEA. The report was submitted to Geostandards Newsletters in March 2002. -
