The Director General recognises staff members for their outstanding service with Superior Achievement Awards

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano presents Ahmed Meghzifene with a Superior Achievement Award

The IAEA Director General has awarded a number of individual staff and staff teams with the Superior Achievement Award at the Staff Assembly on 3 November 2015.

Among them is Dr. Meghzifene who is Head of the Dosimetry and Medical Radiation Physics Section in the Human Health Division of the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications. He received the award in recognition of his efforts and leadership that have established a recognized team of professionals and procedures that ensure the high quality output of his section.

His interaction with professional societies such as the International Organisation for Medical Physics, the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine has contributed to a substantial increase in the recognition of the role of the Agency in medical physics and the endorsement and implementation of many IAEA guidelines and protocols in hospitals and national standards dosimetry laboratories throughout the world. Dr Meghzifene is also recognised for his role in gaining international recognition for the quality of the Agency's dosimetry services.

On receiving the award, Dr. Meghzifene credited the good fortune of working with so many able and dedicated colleagues. As part of the citation, he was recognised for his exemplary cooperation with colleagues and collaboration with Member States and professional bodies. The award also recognised his dedication and ability to handle complex matters far exceeding the call of duty.
