- The 4th FAO/IAEA Interregional Training Course on Mutant Germplasm Characterisation Using Molecular Markers will be held 27 Sep - 22 Oct 2004 at the Agency's laboratories
in Seibersdorf and is for the first time organized in co-operation with the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) through
the International Network for the Improvement of Banana & Plantain (INIBAP). A special focus of this year's course will be a one-week computer based training
on mapping and phylogenetic analyses.

- FAO/IAEA/RCA Workshop on "Nuclear Techniques for Rice Improvement in Asia": The Strategic Meeting was organized in conjunction with the World Rice Research
Conference (WRRC), 4-7 November 2004, Tokyo and Tsukuba, Japan. Nine invited participants presented their work, which attracted more than 80 people. The presentations covered topics
from rice mutation breeding, new mutation techniques, biological basis of induced mutations, novel mutants for rice improvement and function genomic researches, etc.
