CRP Title: Development of procedures for quality assurance for dosimetry calculations in radiotherapy
Objective: The objective of the CRP is to create a set of tests for verification of dosimetry calculations in external beam therapy, defined in a dedicated protocol. The guidelines and procedures will be applied in specific settings at radiotherapy hospitals and tailored to their workload and resources (both personnel and instrumentation). With the introduction of more sophisticated radiation treatment techniques, this set of established basic tests should be extended to guarantee the safe and consistent implementation of the advanced techniques. Practicality of developed quality assurance guidelines will be assured through trial use in clinical facilities of varying size. Reduction of extensive published quality assurance recommendations to a QA programme feasible in the majority of hospitals, and particularly in those with limited resources, will be achieved without loss of comprehensiveness by appropriate and optimum division of effort between treatment planning system vendors and hospital staff.

CRP Title: Development of TLD-based quality audits for radiotherapy doismetry in non-reference conditions
Objective: The aim is to develop procedures for TLD-based mailed dosimetry audits in non-reference conditions, including a new methodology for photon and electron beam checks. The CRP will require the active input from the participating EAGs for testing of new TLD holders and phantoms, developing new TLD irradiation procedures, instructions for hospitals and data sheets, and mechanisms for reporting the results to hospitals. Upon the successful development of the audit methodology, the EAGs will conduct a pilot TLD run for local hospitals in their countries.

CRP Title: Dosimetry in X-ray diagnostic radiology: An international Code of Practice
Objective: The objective of the CRP is to develop a Code of Practice for dosimetry in x-ray diagnostic radiology that will cover both the calibration of instruments at the SSDLs and the measurement of dose in the hospital. The document is expected to become an indispensable part of any quality assurance programme in x-ray diagnostics in Member States. To achieve this goal, various parallel research activities will be conducted within the CRP. They may be divided into five basic groups: (i) analysis of all relevant international and national standards and protocols, (ii) identification of the dosimetry requirements for various x-ray diagnostic procedures, (iii) laboratory verification of the results of analysis (when needed) and preparation of necessary dosimetry data, (iv) extending the IAEA dosimetry laboratory's beam qualities to cover the whole range commonly used in diagnostic radiology, and (v) writing the document.
