CRP El Niño member
Ms. Ellen Druffel
University of California, Irvine
Irvine, USA
Scientific Background
Druffel's current research is centered on carbon cycling and climate reconstruction during the past few centuries. She conducts studies of coral isotope geochemistry using radiocarbon (14C) measured by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS), and stable oxygen and carbon isotopes. She has applied these measurements toward the study of past circulation changes in the surface and upper water column, as they relate to climate change. Additionally, she studies the oceans in their role as the major sink for anthropogenic carbon.
