Project Code/Title I.2.03: Development of procedures and training material for advanced industrial radiography

Rationale : Non-destructive testing (NDT) is essential for quality assurance of various products in diverse industries and construction projects. Many Member States have established NDT infrastructures and personnel training programmes with Agency support. Training requirements in Member States, requested through TC projects, need preparation of updated training manuals for advanced training and harmonization of certification.

Apart from well established NDT protocols for industrial components, machinery and chemical pipelines, new techniques and applications, such as digital radiography for ecological safety, online inspection of concrete structures and pipe corrosion, are being developed. Accreditation of NDT training centers to ISO 17024 (General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons) will be initiated. Many national nuclear centres in Member States will benefit from Agency support and coordination for training and certification of personnel according to international standards. Cooperation with the International Committee for Non-Destructive Testing (ICNDT) for harmonization of accreditation (which is a non-profit organization devoted to the international development of science and practice of NDT) would enhance the sharing of expertise and technology developments amongst Member States.

Objective : To enable Member States to establish and sustain national NDT technology for industrial quality assurance and assimilate new developments in the field.
