Project Code/ Title I.2.04: Advanced nuclear techniques for detection of landmines and bulk explosive material.

Rationale : Reliable detection of landmines and bulk explosive material is of major importance in several Member States. Nuclear techniques have the potential to help locate buried mines and facilitate in their demining for safe disposal. Towards this purpose, new advanced detection methods including use of specially designed neutron sources need to be comprehensively evaluated in terms of technical reliability, efficiency/sensitivity, and cost effectiveness to fulfil the requirements of the Member States.

 Objective : To achieve awareness of applying small neutron sources and a combination of nuclear techniques for detection of mines and bulk explosive materials.
