Resources

Promoting the effective utilization of isotopic techniques and isotopic data is facilitated via the dissemination of technical reports, guidebooks, reference materials and other publications as well as the availability of information from the IAEA's global data networks.

Publications

The list of IAEA publications on Isotope Hydrology, including the Proceedings of Symposia, is available here (browse the Subject Area code 0402, Hydrology). The IAEA Technical Documents (TECDOCs), resulting from CRPs and/or TC projects can be accessed online and downloaded free of charge. Other resources include the six-volume textbook on Environmental Isotopes in the Hydrological Cycle: Principles and Applications, online access to gridded GNIP Maps and Animations, and technical reports of hydrological studies, e.g. Assessing Groundwater Resources in Bangladesh.

Water Resources Programme Data

The isotope and hydrochemical data, together with relevant hydrogeological information on the studies on water resources conducted with support of the WRP, either as Technical Cooperation projects or as part of Coordinated Research Projects, are being compiled in the Isotope Hydrology Information System (ISOHIS). The system also contains the information from other monitoring programmes, such as the Global Network of Isotopes in Precipitation (GNIP), the Global Network of Isotopes in Rivers (GNIR), and Moisture Isotopes in the Biosphere and Atmosphere (MIBA). The information stored in ISOHIS can be visualized in maps and plots in the GIS-based application ISOHIS-Map.

Laser Absorption Spectroscopy

The Water Resources Programme has made its procedure for the installation, operation, and maintenance of off-axis laser absorption stable isotope analyzers available via the web. The procedure provides detailed step-by-step information so users can quickly get their systems up and running. The IAEA post-processing spreadsheet is available; its use is explained in the procedure document. This template allows users to convert off-axis laser analysis results to δ values on the VSMOW scale and analyze the quality of results. Future updates to the procedure and spreadsheet will be made available here and additional materials will be added soon.

Newsletter

The IHS publishes a regular newsletter on the Section's activities, namely, Water & Environment News on six-month intervals, where detailed information on programme activities can be found. The hard copy of the newsletter is for distribution to individuals and institutions in IAEA Member States free of charge upon request, subject to availability. All of the published issues of the newsletter are available on-line in PDF format.
