A. Isotope Hydrology Information System (ISOHIS)
The Isotope Hydrology Information System (ISOHIS) was developed by the Isotope Hydrology Section of the Department of Nuclear Applications of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in co-operation with the Division of Information Technology.
The database contains isotope data with related hydrological and meteorological information from several monitoring networks (GNIP, GNIR, MIBA) as well as data from isotope hydrology projects in Member States. The contents of the database include:
- summary information about isotope hydrology projects and monitoring networks;
- basic information about the nature and origin of water samples analysed.
- data on the concentrations of the major and minor ions, trace constituents, isotopes, dissolved gases measured in water, and relevant hydrological/hydrogeological, geographical and analytical information.
B. Water Isotope System for Data Analysis, Visualization, and Electronic Retrieval (WISER)
WISER, the new online application, replacing ISOHIS, has been developed for dissemination of isotope and related information contained in ISOHIS. This web-based GIS application has been built as a collaborative project of the IAEA and the University of Vienna. The system is accessible through any internet browser without need for local software installation. WISER contains two modules – a mapping application and a download module (including enhanced statistical treatments of GNIP data).
Data visualised within WISER is provided in a cartographic environment, in form of thematic maps, animated maps, or as plots. Various query, exploration and analysis tools are included to lead the user towards customised results. Data organisation is realised by the principle of spatial data layers and each of the layers can be dynamically activated/deactivated by the user through the layer listing. All visualisations can be saved as images or high quality PDF for easy integration in external documents or presentations.
