Isotope Hydrology Section
Joint International Isotopes in Hydrology Programme (JIIHP)
Strategic Activities Plan
Sept. 2004- June 2006
(Draft 1 July 23, 2004)
The JIIHP was established in June 2002 as a joint programme between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO.)
The Objective of the JIIHP programme is to facilitate the integration of isotopes in hydrological practices through:
- Developing tools for better understanding of specific hydrological processes;
- Supporting national, regional and international water resource management programmes (promoting the use of isotopes by water professionals, information dissemination activities etc.);
- Incorporating isotope hydrology into hydrological curricula worldwide;
- Integrating isotopic databases at the national, regional and global scales;
- Receiving feedback from target audiences and incorporating into JIIHP strategic initiatives.
