This database contains 48 research reactors performing Neutron Scaterring distributed over 31 Member States.
Neutron scattering technique profits of the neutron neutrality in order to explore material deep structure. While it is still possible to perform some studies using low power level reactors, the use of intermediate and high power level reactors are the most efficient reactors for this application. Many high power level research reactors have been constructed primarily for this application.
The material is irradiated by neutrons, which penetrate into, interact with matter and are deviated from a certain angle with a precise energy, depending on the material structure. For inelastic interaction, a measurement of the neutron velocity change is also performed. These datas are basis for the structure modelisation of the material.
