PACT for Global Cancer Partnership

PACT was launched as an IAEA initiative in 2004. Its vision is to build a global partnership and raise funds for cancer control.

Many organisations are working on cancer control in the developing world. But, all too often, lack of coordination amongst them leads to duplication of efforts and sub-optimal use of limited resources. PACT facilitates communication among these organisations so that in the future, they may, each with its own area of expertise, work closely together to bring comprehensive and sustainable cancer control programmes to developing countries.

These public-private partnerships will also work together to assess needs, define national plans for cancer prevention and control and help raise funding to implement control programmes in all regions of the developing world. In this way limited resources will be used in the most cost-effective way and millions of unnecessary deaths will be prevented.
